When a blogger writes posts about some products or services, he might be tempted to write about them in a very positive way. Before you try to make your blog very popular, it is a good idea to work on it so that it looks professional. One of the things that will help you in this matter is updating your blog regularly. To maintain regularity in blogging some recommend writing a few posts in advance, and saving them in a Word document. 2. Can you work on a regular basis? Won’t you get discouraged? Blogging requires you to work on a regular basis, so writing an article once per month may not be sufficient to have a popular blog. You should consider blogging at least a few times per week, preferably almost every day.

I hope you read carefully the above questions. However, in order to establish a new blog you do not have to answer “yes” to all of the above questions. There is nothing wrong with experimenting with different hobbies like blogging, even if after some time a person can change his mind and in consequence abandon his blog

I could start by explaining the importance of doing regular backups. However, I believe that almost everybody knows how important it is to store important data, and how crucial it is to back it up from time to time. There are a few ways you can store it:

• Online. By this I not only mean your email account, but also services of companies that allow you to store your data on their disks. Often a certain fee might be associated with it, so it is up to you whether you want to pay for this kind of services.
• External hard drives. Those usually have a large capacity and thus make it the cheapest and the most effective way to store data. I would recommend them to most people.
• You can also have additional hard drives inside your PC. Just by installing additional drive in your PC, you will have more space to store your precious data. Take into account that your energy bill might grow because of it, as you will have two hard drives constantly operational.
• CDs and DVDs. Although those do not contain that much free space, their price is not that high, and you can fully rely on them.

I am not going to recommend a specific method for every type of user, but try to remember that it is important to back up your data on a regular basis.

Writing Posts

Did a few days already pass since your last post, and you feel obliged to write something new? Do not worry, as there are a lot of things to write about, and all you have to do is stay focused. Here is some advice that may help you:

Do not get distracted by other things around you. Do not visit other blogs in the meantime, unless you look for inspiration. You might get overwhelmed by the fact how well other writers are doing, and this might prevent you from being a creative writer yourself.

Write something funny and amusing as a start up. Once you start writing something, you will see that it will be getting easier and easier to continue doing so. It is the hardest to start writing at all.

Do not put additional burdens on yourself that are unnecessary. If you usually write articles 200 words long, stick to it, and do not start writing 300 or 400 word long posts. Of course, this will also depend on your niche and topic of your post.

Ask your family and friends for their assistance. They can be very helpful not only for finding something to write about, but their presence can also give you additional motivation.

Reward yourself for your hard work. After completing your tasks do something that you did not have time to do in the past and always wanted to.

There are millions of people who have their own business, and while it may not be that easy, the numbers prove that it can be done. These days a lot of people are thinking about selling their products on the Internet, but whether you want to take advantage out of technology is completely up to you. What are your strengths? What talents do you have? What do you like to do? Your business will have a bigger chance of succeeding if you get involved in something you have potential to perform well.

We can see the phenomena of multiple authors of a blog more and more often. There is something that attracts some bloggers to gather together and co-author one blog. However, maintaining a blog with a few authors can be quite challenging. That is why I would like to give you a few tips on how not to allow this experience to get out of hand:

1. Make sure that you team-up with like-minded people. There is nothing more annoying than having to deal with someone you don’t like or understand.

2. Have similar goals. This is definitely an important point, because ultimately each blog has to have some goal. It will be a lot better if all of you work towards the same goal.

3. Be demanding when choosing the bloggers. You want to have the right people for the job, so make sure that you familiarize yourself with their writings before you decide to work with them.

4. Control the quality of the posts. Do not allow any of them to be of a lower quality than others. You need to have some standard according to which you measure the quality.

5. Check if the content is not duplicate. You don’t want to have co-authors which are stealing content. You may use Copyscape for this purpose.

6. Coordinate your schedules from time to time. Plan meetings or maintain regular email conversations.

Blogging is Time Consuming

Most people who do not blog do not realize that blogging is very time consuming. There are multitude of things to do including marketing, search engine optimization, networking, promotion, using Digg, guest posts, posting, comments, moderation, template design, protecting from hackers, and writing reviews.

I suspect that I did not even mention all of the things to do. A blog is like a business, but the difference is that usually only one person has to do all of the things. It might sound scary, but that is really what marketing is about, and I don’t believe there is any fundamental flaw in it. I think it has been discovered what is the secret in marketing that allows to attract a large number of people. Successful marketers believe it is all about emotional connection, specifically to be able to connect with what’s behind the brand, with what’s behind the promise of the product. If that is achieved, it can create loyalty beyond reason.

RSS Feed and Email Subscriptions

I would like to discuss RSS feed and email subscriptions. In this post I am not really going to answer which choice is better, but I just want to say that in some cases email subscriptions might be a better choice. WE have to admit that most blogs focus on RSS feeds and RSS subscribers a lot deal more than on email subscriptions. This is probably due to the fact that RSS subscriptions are very convenient, and are more and more popular.

So why would anyone not want to be an RSS subscriber, but rather prefer to subscribe by email? The answer is that many Internet users simply didn’t learn yet about RSS feeds, and might not know how to subscribe to a feed or use RSS feed readers. This post is especially directed at blogs which deal with non-technical topics.

I think it is important to remember that some people do not know everything when it comes to more technologically advanced stuff like RSS feeds. It is crucial to take that into account if your blog is in a niche that includes a lot of people who are non-technologically oriented. Offering various ways to subscribe to your blog posts is a great way to increase the number of readers you have.

Spell Checking for Firefox

Many people decide to use Firefox as their preferred internet browser due to many features not found in other browsers like Internet Explorer. One of the really useful things in Firefox is the built in spell checker. It is a great tool which will help you spot any mistakes you make while you type in Firefox. Unfortunately, Firefox only checks the spelling on large text fields, not all of them. In order to enable spell checking for all fields, you will have to do some small modification.

To do so, you should first type “about:config” in the address bar. Later type “layout.spellcheckdefault” in the filter box, and double click on preference to change value from 1 to 2. After restarting Firefox your new settings should be applied. You will see that it works, if typos are going to be underlined in red. You can even try to misspell some words on purpose to see if it works.

This tweak will allow you to spot any mistakes you make, even if you are typing in small fields, such as when you fill out forms. From my personal experience I can say that spell checking can be very useful. However, if you really want to avoid any mistakes, you should be only writing when you feel rested, because being tired can greatly reduce your concentration.

Choosing Between Browsers?

Which browser should I choose? This is the question which many people ask, while others spend hours upon hours in order to prove that their browser is superior. While I also have a browser preference, this is not really what I wanted to talk about this time, as I rather want to point out something. With so many browsers advertising that they are the best, we often feel like we have to make a specific choice, and that is not really the case.

Some people might not know it, but you can actually have multiple browsers installed on your computer. You can use Firefox, IE, and Opera interchangeably, and you do not have to be limited to just one. You may wish to use Firefox when accessing dangerous sites, as Firefox is considered to be the safest browser.

On the other hand, you may also want to use Internet Explorer when you want to open some of your bookmarked pages, because most websites are compatible with IE. You can use Opera when you feel like you want to quickly jump from one tab to another, as Opera is a very fast browser. Remember that you don’t have to limit yourself to just one browser
